With 60 per cent of adult Australians experiencing low health literacy, they may not understand the cause of disease, the lifestyle factors that contribute to disease or where to get medical advice and support.

With this in mind the Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) has created a website that is designed as a centralised gateway for fast and easy access to health related information.  Your Health Link provides a wide range of health related information including health facts, support and counselling services, legal, finance and housing, mental health, drug and alcohol, sexual health and more – with information divided into eight categories: Child and Family, Youth, Women’s Health, Men’s Health, Seniors, Carers, People with Disability, Aboriginal Health and Multicultural Health.

The MNCLHD is providing this service to the Australian community to support health consumers, teachers, students and health professionals. The site has a teacher and health professional resource section and a wide variety of information that can be used for research and student projects.

Other features include text to speech services for people with vision impairment and those who find it difficult to read, useful health related telephone numbers, direct links to NSW Health, a Health Events Calendar and a search facility to find local health service information.
